A HAPPY CHRISTMAS to Everyone!

As we celebrate Christmas – family holidays, presents, food, hanging out with loved ones and friends – may we reflect on the real meaning of it which is the celebration of the birthday of Christ, God’s greatest gift to us.
Once again, we revisit the Christmas Story that  gives a biblical account of the events [...]

Fourth Sunday of Advent

24th December 2006.
As we celebrate the birth of Christ, may we thank the almighty God for -
the wonderful things we receive, and often we take for granted,
the unexpected courtesy, kindly and thoughtful deeds,
hands that reach out to help in times of special needs.
May we be more aware of daily graces that come to us.
In my mind is one of my [...]

Drawn by God

Today, I’ve reflected on Oswald Chambers’ thoughts… that we have all been created with the ability to reach out beyond our own grasps, but it is the Almighty God who draws us, and that our relationship to Him is a personal one, and not an intellectual one. That we come into the relationship through God’s [...]

Third Sunday of Advent

A prayer and praise —
… For Almighty God’s advent in our empty world, his light shining in our darkness, his word into our silence, join me in giving thanks.
… Please also join me in asking Him to give us hearts receptive to his advent, spirits expectant of his presence, ready to rise and follow him at his call.
To God [...]

Heals and Restores

I realize that I’ve featured this hymn here two months back. The thing is, I woke up with this song , so decided to write at least my favourite stanza …
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, (if you please),
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Supplier of our Needs

No it can’t be coincidence, how sometimes someone comes along “just in the nick of time” to help us out on a difficult situation or to comfort us.
I truly believe it’s the Almighty God in action to rescue us.  The Bible tells us (book of James?) that “every good gift and perfect gift is from above, [...]

Make me a Blessing

I must have carried over the intensity of my prayer last night to make me a blessing that before I reached out for my morning meditation, the hymn “Make me a Blessing” immediately came to mind.   May we be a blessing to someone today …

George S. Schuler, 1924

Getting Ready!

Today, 10th Dec, is the second Sunday of Advent as we prepare for Christ’s birth, His first coming!
Some of us have started our activities for the Season - shopping for Christmas, getting ready to travel; preparing for birthday or weddings, and so forth.  Something struck me while listening to the Sunday message of my local pastor:  Are we getting ready for the coming [...]
