“A friend loves at all times.” So declares Proverbs 17:17. As I reflect on friendship, the greatest friends that always comes to mind are David and Jonathan from the Bible’s Old Testament.
My gratitude list:
Without mentioning why, the other day, Saturday, God blest me with wonderful caring friends off- and online: Liz Ringrose (UK), Wendi Friend [...]

Crises. Hope. Comfort.

Why are you so downcast, O my soul?
Crises come in many forms. Sometimes they come one after another. When things become seemingly hopeless we become angry, bitter, indifferent. We even blame God. I was guilty of this. Like many, my crises, too, are on top of each other and have asked “Why God?” endless times.
I [...]
Lifter of my Head

“But you are a shield around me, O Lord;
You bestow glory on me and lift up my head.”
Psalm 3:3 (NIV)
Life is filled with ordinary days. My heart is not light and my shoulders droop. Then I remember Him. Who but the Lord, the Lifter of my head who promises to come to my rescue and [...]

Tulips in the Snow
The photo “Tulips in the Snow” is a compliment of my Dutch friend Wim Vingerhoed, a Christian and Mozart enthusiast from Eindhoven. A lovely sight of yellow-coloured tulips in snow. Ik wens je een prettige dag.
It’s almost the end of summer here in Sydney, although at times we experience the four seasons [...]

A reflection on Mark 2:1-12
I’d like to focus on an event in Mark 2:1-12 when Jesus healed a man with paralysis. As the story goes, Jesus went back home in Capernaum for a few days, and the crowd came back to see Him again. There was hardly any place to move. Eminent were the four [...]
An Evening for Newcomers

The fairly informal ‘Evening for Newcomers’ was held at Chatswood Church of Christ on Friday 17th Feb 2006, from 6.3pm until a bit past 9pm. It was a get together primarily extended to newcomers and their families. I was invited and attended as a newcomer. Really, the term ‘newcomer’ can be loosely used. For it [...]

Tasman Sea from the Lighthouse

If my blog’s title is “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning”, we will all be most familiar with a popular song from an endeared Rodgers and Hammerstein’s one of earliest musicals “Oklahoma!”. But instead, I decided to use the title of one of my favourite childhood hymns of [...]
Hope and Faithfulness

Our hope is built on nothing less than a foundation of God’s faithfulness.
Faith and a positive attitude will ease my efforts.
I am aware that tomorrow is a question on hold, but God knows exactly how life will unfold.
Verse to reflect on:
Daniel 7:9
“As I looked, thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his [...]
A Blessed Day

From midnight until the wee hours this morning, I decided to do a short reflective piece that focuses on verses from the holy scriptures: Mark 2:1-12 and Isaiah 43: 18-25. Being a writer, I write about anything, from business documents to inspirational and motivational pieces. But I’ve never ventured on a reflective piece with reference [...]

I’d like to close the day with one of my lifelong favourites “How Great Thou Art”.
Words and Music by Carl G. Boberg and R.J. Hughes.
HOW GREAT THOU ART
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the works Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear [...]
